Obituary of Bobbie Ray Estes

Bobbie Ray Estes, age 78, of Watkins Glen, NY died on Wednesday, December 20th, 2023 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira.

Bobbie was born in Lyon County, Kentucky on February 18th, 1945, the son of the late, Elbert J. and Nola (Henson) Estes.  Bobbie retired in 1983 as a MSG from the U.S. Army after serving 20 years.  In his 20 years of service, he served in Vietnam and earned the National Defense Service Medal, an Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, a Bronze Star Medal and Meritorious Service Medal.  He married Kathleen Haight in Reading Center, NY on November 26th, 1993.

Bobbie is survived by his daughter, Krisi Dossett of Elkton, KY; sons, Michael (Jessica) Estes of Murray, KY; Kevin (Dana) Estes of Paducah, KY, and Matthew (Sam) Estes of Syracuse; sisters, Faye Lutz of Eddyville, KY and Joyce Greer of Possum Trot, KY; brothers, Billie Estes, and Jackie Estes both of Eddyville, KY; eleven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and eleven nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bobbie was predeceased by his wife of 29 years, Kathleen M. Estes on April 14th, 2023; his sister, Becky Suiter; and brothers, Jerry Estes of Cadiz, KY and Joe Estes of Houston, TX.

A graveside service with Military Honors will be held on Saturday, December 23rd, 2023 at 11am at Lakeview Cemetery, Watkins Glen, NY.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Defense for Devon Fund c/o Community Foundation, 301 S.
