Obituary of Kevin G. Kelly

Kevin G. Kelly, 63, of Watkins Glen, passed away on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, peacefully at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Montour Falls, NY on October 22, 1958 the son of the late Floyd and Ruth Kelly. On August 21, 1988, he married the love of his life Terri Overly in Reading Center. Kevin worked as a carpenter for Silverline Construction for many years. He was a carrier for the Star Gazette and also a farmer. He enjoyed hunting and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Terri Kelly; one daughter, Katelyn Loan (Nathan Miller) of Geneva; five sons, Robert Kelly (Deanna "Rosie" Labar) of Watkins Glen, Nicholas Kelly of Alger, OH, Jacob Kelly (Lindsey Snyder) of Cortland, Zachary Kelly (Shianna Mattison) of Watkins Glen and Mark Doherty of Utica; one sister, Patricia Dense of Burdett; three brothers, David (Mary) Kelly, Gary Kelly and Jason (Pam) Kelly all of Burdett; seven grandchildren, Kaylana Rekczis, Owen Loan, Jason Loan, Maxton Kelly, Julius Kelly, Mairin Doherty and Lincoln Kelly; and by several nieces and nephews. Kevin was a father figure to many kids who passed through his life particularly Paul Cummings, Mackenzie Secord and Bill Haskins. He was predeceased by two brothers, Phillip Kelly, and Neal Kelly. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, December 17, 2021, from 2:00-4:00 pm at Haughey-Wood & Zinger Funeral Home, 119 Fifth St., Watkins Glen, NY. His memorial service will follow at 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Tyrone Fire Department or the Burdett Fire Department in his memory.
