Obituary of Barbara L. Specchio

Barbara L. Specchio, age 86, of Watkins Glen, NY entered unto rest on Sunday, November 6th, 2022 in the comfort of her home. Barb was born in Geneva, NY on March 10th, 1936, the daughter of the late, William Stephen and Laura Marie Lee. Barb graduate from Desales High School in Geneva, NY. She married Theodore “Ted” Specchio on October 4th, 1958 at St. Mary's of the Lake Church in Watkins Glen, NY. She was the secretary for many years for Schuyler ARC and was a strong advocate representing the voice of families with a child with developmental disabilities. Barb was a communicant of St. Mary's of the Lake Church and a past member and president of the St. Mary's Guild. She was also a secretary for the Legion of Mary, a member of the board of directors for Schuyler ARC. Barb is survived by her children, Larry Specchio (Laura) of Chenango Forks, NY and Laurie DeNardo (Robin Burnett) Watkins Glen, NY; grandchildren, Dr. Patricia Beall (Jeremy), Dylan Walther (Tianna) and Alyssa Specchio; great-grandchildren, Aiden and Cole Walther and Theodore and Brinlee Beall; sisters, Patricia Angelo of Gastonia, NC and Shirley Ormsbee of Waterloo, NY; many nieces and nephews; and many special friends, Althea, Betty, Janice and Julie; as well as, her caretakers, Sandy and Eileen. In addition to her parents, Barb was predeceased by husband of 56 years Theodore “Ted” Specchio in October 2014; daughter, Karen Walther in April 2022; sister, Virginia Rondinaro in 1990 and her brothers, Richard Lee in 2008 and Robert Lee in 2019. Friends and family may call from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Friday, November 11th, 2022 at Haughey-Wood & Zinger Funeral Home, 119 5th St., Watkins Glen, NY 14891. A Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 12th, 2022 at St. Mary's of the Lake Church, 905 Decatur St., Watkins Glen, NY 14891. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Watkins Glen.
