Obituary of Jeanne M. Voorhees

Jeanne M. Voorhees, 86, formerly of Montour Falls and Watkins Glen, New York, passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2023. She was born in Montour Falls, NY on September 21, 1936 the daughter of the late Adolph and Mary (Knapp) Landry. Jeanne retired from Corning, Inc. She was a communicant of St. Mary's of the Lake Church in Watkins Glen. She was also a member of Women of the Moose and the Mechanics Club. Jeanne was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting. She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald Voorhees; infant son Gerald; daughter Elaine Augustine; sister Rita Mathers; twin brother John Landry; and niece Joanne Fitch. She is survived by her two grandchildren, Tony and Joey Augustine; two sisters; Ann (Dan) Neumire of Reading Center and Mary (John) Bond of Watkins Glen; brother George (Kate) Landry of Clearmont, Florida; brother-in-law Bob Mathers of Corning; along with several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at 11:00 am at St. Mary's of the Lake Church, 905 North Decatur St., Watkins Glen, NY. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in Watkins Glen. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Mary's of the Lake Church.
