Obituary of Raymond L. Wright Sr.

Raymond L. Wright Sr., age 69, of Watkins Glen, NY passed away on Wednesday, November 15th, 2023 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center.

Ray was born in Elmira, NY on April 29th, 1954 to the late Faith (Rapplee) Clark of Watkins Glen. He graduated from Klasoldern American High School and Married Michele K. Webb at the Full Baptist Church in Beaver Dams, NY on December 9th, 1989. He served in the US Army for 13 years and then in the Army reserves. Ray worked as a machine operator at Yammer Toshiba in Horseheads for 15 years and then retired from Corning Glass Works after 14 years of service. He was a member of the Altay Baptist Church. Ray loved camping, boating, fishing, hunting, working on cars, fixing stuff, playing cards and Euchre. He also loved sci-fi movies riding horses rodeos and western movies.

Raymond is survived by his wife of 34 years, Michele K. (Webb) Wright of Elmira; daughter, Jessica (Steven Bozich) Wright of Corning; sons, Raymond L. Wright Jr, Jeffery L. Wright and Shawn Wright all of Elmira; brothers, Lewis James Wright of Millerton, PA and Gary Wright of Watkins Glen; grandchildren, Janelle Grover and Nicole Bozich. Ray was predeceased in life by his first daughter with Michele, Angela Wright in 1989; mother, Faith (Rapplee) Clark on March 9, 2010; and grandparents, Walter and Lila Mae Rapplee.

Friends and family may call from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Monday, November 27th, 2023 at Haughey Wood & Zinger Funeral Home, 119 5th St., Watkins Glen, NY 14891. His funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Scotchtown Cemetery in the Town of Erin, NY.
