Obituary of Barbara Baldwin

Barbara Hughey Baldwin, age 92, unexpectedly went to be with the Lord on May 3, 2024. She was born in Watkins Glen, NY at the family home May 16,1931, the daughter of Walter and Marguerite Buck Hughey.

Barbara graduated from Watkins Glen High School and later worked as Assistant to the Superintendent at the school for 27 years. She loved working at the school and interacting with all of the students and faculty. Their love of her was evident as they dedicated the 1976 Yearbook to her, the only time a yearbook has been dedicated to someone other than faculty.

They loved traveling and enjoyed many trips, including Hawaii and Alaska. She lived in North Carolina the last 5+ years of her life surrounded by most of her family. She was the kindest, most generous, loving person. Her beautiful smile and presence,(and delicious baked goods), will be missed by all, but forever in their hearts.

She is survived by her 5 children, Donna (Don) Easterlin of Durham, NC, Samuel W. (Beth) Baldwin of Chicago, IL, Ann Spencer of Durham, NC, Donald Baldwin of Cary, NC, and David Baldwin of Elbridge, NY, 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and her very close cousins, Mary and Bob King, who were a large part of her life and very special to her.

She was predeceased by her husband, Samuel G. Baldwin, sister Joyce Darling, and
brother Lynn Hughey.

Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's of the Lake Church on July 20, 2024 beginning at 11AM with Rev. Jeff Tunnicliff as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Watkins Glen, NY. Donations may be made to St. Mary's of the Lake Church in her memory for the glory of God.
