Obituary of Rocco R. Marcellino, Sr.

Rocco R. Marcellino Sr, age 82, of Watkins Glen, NY passed away at home on Thursday, June 17th, 2021. Rocco was born in Montour Falls, NY on September 28th, 1938, the son of the late John B. and Nellie (Carey) Marcellino. In his early years, he had worked for Central Asphalt in Cortland, NY and later as a motor equipment mechanic for the NYS DOT at the Owego and Watkins Glen shops. He was also the former owner and operator of the Gulf Station in Watkins Glen. Rocco was a member of the Watkins Glen Elks Lodge #1546, where he had tended bar and put on his famous Italian Smorgasbords for 38 years. In addition to the Watkins Glen Elks Lodge #1546, Rocco was a member of St. Mary's of the Lake Church. Rocco is survived by his grandson, Rocco Marcellino III; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many wonderful friends. In addition to his parents, Rocco was predeceased by his wife, Theodora Marcellino; daughter, Gina Ann Marcellino in 2015; son, Rocco R. Marcellino Jr in 2018; sisters and brothers in law, Helen (Charles) Human and Rose (Jim) Huber; and brothers and sisters in law, Joseph (Natalie) and John (Lucille) Marcellino. Friends and family may call from 10 am to Noon on Saturday, June 26th, 2021 with an Elk's Memorial Service to follow at the Haughey Wood & Zinger Funeral Home, 119 Fifth St., Watkins Glen, NY 14891. A graveside service will immediately follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Watkins Glen, NY. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in his memory to St. Mary's Cemetery and Holy Cross Cemetery, c/o St. Mary's of the Lake Church, PO Box 289, Watkins Glen, NY 14891.
