Obituary of Grace Elaine Marusarz

Grace Elaine (Roof) Maruarz passed away in the comfort of her home in Lakemont, New York  on Tuesday, October 5, 2021. Grace was born August 12, 1938  and was the daughter of Charles and Lilah Roof and grew up in Italy Hill and Dundee ,New York. Grace was predeceased by her parents, her sister Carletta Roof, and Anita Callahan and her husband of over 55 years Michael Marusarz. With her husband Michael, Grace built a life in Lakemont, New York raising their six children; Duane (Debbie) Marusarz of Kansas City Missouri, Romaine (Harold) Sexton of Himrod New York, Lorraine Jayne of Lakemont New York, Lisa (William) Donk of Manchester New York, George Marusarz of Dundee New York and Carletta Hill of Dundee New York.  Grace was a loving and devoted mother who spent her entire life taking care of others. She was her husband’s primary caregiver after his tragic accident at Mortan’s Salt. Grace’s elegant smile lit up any room she was in and she took pride in making sure her loved ones were well fed and taken care of. She enjoyed hosting holiday celebrations, birthday parties and having coffee around her dining room table with family and friends. She was an active and present grandmother in all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s lives.  Grace is survived by her 6 children, 15 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren with one on the way, her sisters Beverly Harrington of Penn Yan New York and Debbie Dodd of Rochester New York, a brother Charles Roof of California, several nieces and nephews and cousins.  As to her wishes a private graveside service will be held on Saturday October 9th at Hillside Cemetery in Dundee, New York. Memories of Grace may be shared with her family and friends at haugheywoodzinger.com
